Peter has posted a Christmas message at the official site. Although he kept it very brief on the English site, he said a lot more on the Swedish site. Here is a translation of the Swedish message:

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Hi. How are you coping with the cold? It will be Christmas soon and I would like to take this chance to wish you a really good Christmas and New Year, and to thank you for your support on the message board among other things. I am very happy. I can promise that it will be an exciting year next year. The album is now starting to take shape and I am feeling incredibly inspired. Take care of yourselves and take it easy over the Christmas period.

All the best, Peter

Peter made a brief appearance at a special concert Showtime At The Stadium in Cardiff, Wales on 20 October 2001 with proceeds going to the Red Hot AIDS Charitable Trust. The concert featured artists such as Charlotte Church, Steps, A1 and Petula Clark singing songs from musicals. The concert was recently broadcast on UK TV. Peter sang "The Last Night Of The World" as part of a Miss Saigon medley. The pictures above are from the concert and are courtesy of www.charlottechurchfans.com.

In other news, Expressen has reported that Peter and Marie Fredriksson (from Roxette) declined to appear at a charity gala concert for the homeless because Carola had been booked to appear. It is not sure how much of this story is a media beat up. Expressen quotes Marie Dimberg (both Peter and Roxette's manager) as saying:

There was an agreement with TV3 saying that Marie Fredriksson, Peter Jöback and Lisa Nilsson were to perform together. But they preferred Carola, and then we said "fine". We'll do it some other time instead.

Marie and Peter have declined to comment.

You can hear a 37 second clip of Peter singing "Crash! Boom! Bang!" by clicking here.

This is part of SKAP's site at www.skap.se.

Fans in Sweden are reporting that the CD is already in the shops.

23 September 2001

The CD celebrating the 75th anniversary of SKAP (the Swedish organisation for pop music composers) looks like it will be in the Swedish shops on 8 October. The CD is called "Osannolikt svenskt" (Unusually Swedish) and features Swedish artists singing Swedish songs of a style not usually associated with that artist. As previously reported, Peter will be singing the Roxette song "Crash! Boom! Bang!" which will be arranged by Christer Sandelin and Tommy Ekman.

The official site is now available in English. Check it out.

2 August 2001

Due to illness, Peter's concert in Västerås last night was cancelled. A new date has been organised - 15 August. Peter's record company advised that Peter was having throat problems and needed to rest. There should be no need to reschedule other concerts.

1 August 2001

Peter in concert

Peter has added another concert date to his tour plan (see 9 May below). On 16 August 2001, he will appear in Malmö.

The concert is only about an hour long and features songs from his "Only When I Breathe" album. Apparently, he also sings a brand new song.

A special website has been created on MSN about Peter's tour. Click here to go the site. Unfortunately, it is only in Swedish. But if you want to see galleries of photos of life on the road, click on the Turnédagbok (Tour diary) link on the left of the screen. Under the link will appear the names of the places that Peter has visited so far. Some of these have photos.

Previously, it was reported that Peter would be participating in the 75th anniversary of SKAP (the Swedish organisation for pop music composers). See the report below dated 23 March 2001. The CD mentioned will now be out at the beginning of October and not September. It has been reported that Peter will be singing the Roxette song "Crash! Boom! Bang!".

PETER JÖBACK'S NEW SONG-PARTNER

Orup: He is one of the best singers we have.

Our most recent pop star receives assistance from an oldtimer in order to attain international success. Today, Aftonbladet can reveal that Orup and Peter Jöback have entered the studio together.

- We've had a promising start, says Orup.

Peter Jöback has had a flying start with his pop career. His debut album Only When I Breathe was released in September and was the 5th most sold Swedish album last year. The new single Under My Skin is climbing the charts at the moment. Moreover, this Saturday, Aftonbladet showed an entirely new side of Peter Jöback through Jonas Åkerlund's pictures from the fashion magazine Elle.

Despite the last album still being in the charts, Peter Jöback has already begun recording new songs. The new co-worker is Orup.

During the last two months, Peter and Orup have discussed ideas, worked on songs and recorded demos in a Stockholm studio.

- It's true we are recording and doing some testing. I write the songs and he sings them, says Orup.

The two artists are with the same record company, which has been an incentive for working together. Orup carefully stresses that nothing of what they're doing now necessarily ends up on Jöback's new album.

- Other songwriters are involved as well and it is a state of competition. You can't be sure before it's all done.

Since Peter Jöback plays in the musical The Witches of Eastwick in London all spring, the work on the new album won't continue until this autumn.

This summer, Peter Jöback will most likely embark on a tour, but after that the constellation Orup/Jöback will go on with their work. Orup is enthusiastic.

- Peter is one of the best singers we have. He's very open for new ideas because he's fairly fresh in the pop music business, unlike old men like me.

How does the cooperation work?

- He himself has a great time and is damn enthusiastic.

Peter Jöback himself does not want to comment on future projects.

- That's not something I can discuss, he says.

Peter as you've never seen him before. Aftonbladet reports on a special photo shoot for the Swedish Elle magazine.

YES... IT *IS* PETER JÖBACK

The musical star goes rock in unique fashion shots by Jonas Åkerlund.

Pitch black make-up, added hair, horror movie romantics. You have never seen Peter Jöback like this before.

The unique fashion pictures of Peter Jöback are published in the May edition of the magazine Elle. The pictures were taken by photographer and director Jonas Åkerlund at the strip club Raymond's Revue Bar in London's Soho.

The pop and musical star has long hair, wears black make-up and black leather. In one of the pictures he has three rats crawling on his neck.

- Every picture is like a work of art. We wanted to do something arty, and letting Jonas fully have his way during the shoot was a blast, says Peter Jöback. He's incredibly talented.

It's the first time he appears as a model in a magazine.

- He's damn good to work with. Even if you haven't seen him like this before, there's a hefty portion of Peter in it since he's very into clothes, says Jonas Åkerlund.

The idea of working together came up three years ago, when the two met for the first time. Since then they've kept in touch, like when Peter wrote parts of the songs from Only When I Breathe, which was released in September. Then he borrowed the director's house in Los Angeles.

- We were considering what we could do that would be different, and we wanted something that was a bit luxurious trash. It was fun doing something a bit more brutal, but I don't want to mix the pictures with the image of me as an artist, says Peter Jöback who will be in the musical The Witches Of Eastwick in London until this summer.

After the shoot he kept the strass necklace in the shape of a skull. He wears it in the video for the Under My Skin Single which was released in early April.

* Is there anything but the strass necklace you'd consider wearing normally?

- Some of the clothes in the pictures are my own. I have always been interested in fashion. Especially when you live in London, you can wear somewhat kinkier things. You don't get noticed as much.

* Have you gone rock?

- I suppose finding your own personality happens naturally as you get older. People often think I'm the same as in my musical roles. Now they start to see a part of who I really am that they've never seen.

* You have been described before as "cute".

- Aha. Then maybe this can provide another image (laugh). You are what you are. I'm comfortable with my looks.

* Do you have dark sides, like the pictures imply?

- I think everyone has...

11 April 2001

Peter's last performance in "Witches of Eastwick" will be Saturday 30 June 2001 according to Peter's official site. The site also reports that Peter will not be appearing on 16 April and between 3 May and 8 May. Although not mentioned there, he will obviously not be appearing between 6 June and 17 June since he will be in Sweden performing on the Kristina concert tour. Thanks to Ann-Marie Carlstedt for pointing this news out to me.

"Under My Skin" debuted at number 37 on the Swedish singles chart. It is bubbling under on the listener voted Tracks chart.

Peter will be appearing at Faddergalan on 16 April which will be broadcast on TV4. Other artists include Titiyo, Friends, Magnus Uggla, Magnus Carlsson (from Barbados) and Meja. The gala is about sponsoring under-privileged children around the world and is a very worthy cause.

The official site has a new wallpaper (see below) that you can download. Check it out. The links below the image will allow you to download the wallpaper directly from the official site in case you are unable to navigate around the official site.

In further news, Aftonbladet reports that on 26 November 2001, a special concert will be held at Cirkus in Stockholm to celebrate the 75th anniversary of SKAP (the Swedish organisation for pop music composers). Many artists will take part including Peter. Peter is reported to be singing "Crash Boom Bang", the Roxette song. A special CD collection will also be released in September. The project is being called "Osannolikt svenskt". Click here for the original article.

Peter's new single "Under My Skin" is out in Sweden this coming Monday. There will be two versions of the single - the standard two track version and a maxi version. The exact track listing is not known yet. The actual video will be on one of the singles as well as remixes of the song including a remix by Stonebridge.

joback20-3-2001.jpg (62970 bytes)Peter has recently been promoting his album outside of Sweden. He visited Zurich, Switzerland on 7 March for a series of radio and TV interviews. "Higher" has been getting good airplay there.

The following day, Peter was in Copenhagen, Denmark to perform at Radio 2's birthday celebrations. He also took the opportunity to be interviewed for TV. "Tonight" is the current single in Denmark.

The picture above with Johnny Logan appeared in the Danish magazine Se & Hør. The accompanying article is below:

MUSICAL FRIENDS

The Swedish musical star Peter Jöback got high praise from Johnny Logan, when they met up at the birthday party of Radio 2.

Johnny Logan was very impressed when he heard the Swedish musical star Peter Jöback sing some of the songs from his new CD, and he had very high praise for the young Swede. Both took part in the party, when Radio 2 celebrated its fourth birthday on "Det Ny ABC" (The New ABC Theatre) in Copenhagen. It was here Sony Music chose to introduce Peter Jöback, who can be called a Swedish answer to Stig Rossen (Stig Rossen is Danish and had the leading male role in the London theatre production of "Les Miserables"). Peter Jöback has also made himself a musical career in London, where he by the way still lives. He has for many years been a big star in Sweden and tries now with his new CD "Only When I Breathe" to also conquer Denmark.

Many thanks to Jan Bach for the picture scan and translation.

11 March 2001

In August 1999, Aftonbladet reported that Peter was the driving force behind a new Swedish musical based on a book by famous author Selma Lageröf. It was her first novel "Gösta Berlings saga". Planning was still in its early stages and since then Peter has been busy with other projects including "Witches of Eastwick" and "Only When I Breathe". At that time only two songs were ready. One of those was "En sång om oss" which Peter had recorded for his album "Personliga val".

Last week, Radio Stockholm gave an update on the status of the musical. Fourteen songs are now ready. It is planned for a concert version of the musical to tour. Peter would feature in the concert along with a symphony orchestra. A CD would be released and then later on, the actual musical would be staged. It is uncertain when this would happen but it looks like it would be next year.

Many thanks to Ann-Marie Carlstedt from Sweden for the update on "Gösta Berlings saga".

Elsewhere, it has been reported that Peter will finish up with "Witches of Eastwick" in about May. There has been some interest in "Only When I Breathe" from outside of Sweden but there are no firm plans at the moment to launch it internationally. Peter has already started writing songs for a new album.

24 February 2001

"Under My Skin", the next single from Peter's album, will be released in Sweden on 26 March 2001. You can view the video clip for the song at www.nrj.se.  The video clip is being shown on Swedish television and the single is being released to radio on Monday.

"Witches of Eastwick" has closed at Drury Lane and will reopen at the Prince Of Wales theatre on 23 March 2001. Peter will still be in the show.

A new unofficial website has opened. It is called Under His Skin and is in Norwegian. An English version is being developed.

12 February 2001

Peter won NRJ's award as Best Swedish Male Artist. NRJ is a Swedish radio station. Congratulations Peter. Thanks to Siv for the news.

6 January 2001

The third single from Peter's album will be "Under My Skin". It is expected that there will be a couple of remixes on the single. A release date has not been decided yet.

"Tonight" peaked at number 25 on the Swedish singles chart. It is currently sitting at number 36.

"Only When I Breathe" continues to sell. It has been in the charts for 15 weeks and is at number 24.
