This is the single cover for "Hollow" which should hit the shops on 3 March 2010. The digital download should be available on Saturday.

22 February 2010

With only five days to go before Peter performs at Melodifestivalen, there was a risk that his song may be disqualified. Last Saturday night, a clip from "Hollow" as well as a clip from Sibel's entry "Stop" were leaked online. SVT investigated and found that it was a technical issue and not as a result of an attempt to sabotage the contest. Consequently, they decided not to disqualify the songs and put up the clips from all eight songs so as not to give any an unfair advantage. You can check them out by going here.

The website ESC Today has the story in English.

9 December 2009

Peter will be appearing in the fourth semi final of Melodifestivalen on 27 February 2010 in Malmö. In the same semi final will be Pernilla Wahlgren who has worked with Peter before. More recently, she performed the duet "Han är med mig nu" with Peter at a gala in 2007.

5 December 2009

Peter has been announced as a wildcard entry in Melodifestivalen 2010, the Swedish contest to pick Sweden's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest. He will be performing a song called "Hollow", written by Anders Hansson and Fredrik Kempe. Peter describes the song as a big ballad in the vein of "All By Myself".

Peter previously appeared in Melodifestivalen in 1990 when he was first embarking on his career with a song called "En sensation". He has been asked many times since to return to Melodifestivalen but he has always said no but this time he is really happy with the song. It looks like Peter will compete in the third semi-final in Göteborg on 20 February 2010 but this is not confirmed. Hopefully he will also be in the final on 13 March 2010 in Stockholm.

Peter is reuniting with his former Kristina co-star, Helen Sjöholm, for four Stephen Sondheim tribute concerts to be held in February 2010 at Berwaldhallen in Stockholm. The dates are:

Thursday 11 February 2010, 7:00pm
Friday 12 February 2010, 6:00pm
Friday 12 February 2010, 9:00pm
Saturday 13 February 2010, 3:00pm

It hasn't been confirmed as yet but one of the concerts may be broadcast on Swedish Radio.

"East Side Stories" has been certified gold in Sweden. It peaked at number 5 on the Swedish album chart.

Peter's Christmas album, "Jag kommer hem igen till jul", is sitting at number one on the mid-price album chart. It has now sold quadruple platinum.

26 October 2009

"East Side Stories" is now available to buy on iTunes.

14 October 2009

The video for "Sing" is now available.

Peter performed "Somebody" on a TV show.

"Sing" entered the Tracks chart at number 16. Tracks is a chart voted for by radio listeners.

Declan O'Rourke, who sings "Everybody Hurts" with Peter on the new album, will be guesting with Peter during his Christmas tour.

Peter will be performing at this Friday's "Världens Barn" (Children of the World) gala. He will perform "Sing" live. Kate Pierson will not be able to attend due to touring commitments with the B-52s so her place will be filled by Cookies 'n Beans, a Swedish trio who also appeared at Melodifestivalen earlier this year.

Scroll down to where it says 11.00 - 11.30 fredag 18 sep 2009 and click on that link. A new window will open and start playing with a Swedish newsreader. "Sing" comes on at about 12:29.

Another side of Peter will be shown in a new documentary film to be called "Happy, handsome and unknown (en film om Peter Jöback). The film will be broadcast on SVT1 in Sweden on Tuesday 22 September 2009 at 21:45.

The film has been directed by Anders Halberg, a Swedish director who has lived and worked in New York for the last 10 years. He has followed Peter while he embarked on his new, more anonymous life on the other side of the Atlantic, through auditions, performances and his free time . Anders wanted to create an honest portrait of Peter both as an artist and a person.

It is expected that the film may be repeated during the following week. No indication as yet if a DVD release is being considered.

12 September 2009

"East Side Stories" can be pre-ordered online at the following places. The links go directly to the album.

Megastore (ships around the world)
CD On (ships within the European Union)
Ginza (ships within Sweden only)

It might be an idea to hold off from pre-ordering the CD since it is possible there may be a special edition or to order an autographed copy through the official site. Keep checking here for details.

I have not been able to find the single to pre-order anywhere online. Considering that it is only one week away, it is quite possible that it will be a digital release only.

4 May 2009

Peter appeared on stage in New York at the City Winery in New York recently (see news item for 22 March 2009). Among other songs, he performed an English version of his classic song "Stockholm I Natt". The quality of the following clip isn't the best but you can hear that the song still carries the impact. The English lyrics have been written by Andreas Mattsson.

3 May 2009

Although Peter is currently living in New York, he will be back in Sweden for at least two performances.

Peter will be appearing at the Gala Evening being held to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the charitable organisation Childhood in Gothenburg on 18 May. More information can be found here here. Tickets can only be purchased in person at the ticket office for Göteborgs Operan.

Peter is now living in New York for the year. In his diary at the official site, he has revealed that he has started writing songs and making contacts. In  his last diary entry, Peter talks about visiting Los Angeles to meet people.

The good news for any fans living in New York is that Peter will be performing there on 23 April 2009. He will be appearing at the City Winery with Issa (formerly known as Jane Siberry) and Amy Ziff. To book tickets, click here. Thanks to Mike for the information.

Secret Garden's album "Inside I'm Singing" is finally being released internationally. It was released in Australia on 6 March 2009 and the UK on 16 March 2009. Other territories will follow. The album contains the song "Thank You" sung by Peter. Thanks to James for the information.
